Maybe life is suppose to be glorious and tough

If there is anything that makes you appreciate the little things it’s not having the little things.

While traveling and living on the sailboat, it’s amazing and beautiful… and difficult.

There is something glorious about moving through the water powered by the wind. Without an engine, all you hear is the water splashing on the hill and it is thrilling. Wind powered my 30-foot Tartan got up to 7.7 knots — almost 9 miles an hour.

But, let’s say you’re heading south on the Chesapeake and it gets blustery and you don’t want to sail anymore. It’s not like driving a car or riding a bike where you can just stop and walk and do something else. There’s no place to pull over. There’s no place to stop. What if it is 200 feet deep and with variable gusty winds and pelting rain?

Instead of stopping, maybe you turn on the engine, change the sail configuration, and look for a marina or anchorage within the next 10 miles. The only path is through. That’s a little bit about Real Estate too. Cold calls, FSBOs, expired listings, and open houses for other people, are the hard part. The amazing part is the relationships and the smiles and connections about life and living. I live surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife. It’s glorious and it speaks to all of us here in Southwest Florida.

The sellers at my latest listing in Burnt Store Lakes are a couple who have known each other for over 50 years. How glorious is that! Here’s the better-than-new home
